Disney's Tarzan: Return to the Jungle

Watch the little guy romp and treesurf through the jungle in these new video clips.

Activision's ready to unleash its Game Boy Advance follow-up to its internationally-popular Game Boy Color platformer, Disney's Tarzan. The sequel, Disney's Tarzan: Return to the Jungle has wrapped up development at the same studio responsible for the original GBC title, Digital Eclipse. We tinkered around with the final revision, and it's obvious that the game's using the same successful formula as the original handheld adventure.

The game opens up with players in control of the younger Tarzan still learning the ropes. Tarzan's pal Rosie O'don...er, I mean, Turk teaches players all the proper moves necessary to get through the different areas in the game, from the run-jump to vine-swinging to the brand-new (and quite fun) tree-surfing moves. This training session is a nice touch, considering that players might not have played the original game on the Game Boy Color.

Along with all the jumping and climbing you can do in the game, Tarzan can also whip out a boomerang to take out the hazardous obstacles in the game...namely the jungle inhabitants that Tarzan's not on friendly terms with. Toss a few 'rangs out at wild boars, porcupines, and beehives so you can advance further in the jungle.

We've only been able to get through a few levels, but so far the game's offered a decent challenge. We'll give the full verdict when the game ships at the end of this month.

Oh, and to the guys at Digital Eclipse...we love the new logo screen. Really. Nice job.
