Pokemon GBA US Date Revealed

Nintendo announces the launch date for its upcoming Poke-venture on the GBA.

The Pokemon.com website, Nintendo's official outlet for all things Pokemon, was updated this week with a bit of exciting news: the US version of Pokemon for the Game Boy Advance will be shipping on March 17th.

The US versions, like the Japanese versions shipping this week overseas, will come in two flavors: Pokemon: Ruby Edition and Pokemon: Sapphire Edition. Each version will have their own list of catchable Pokemon...like the past versions of the series, the only way you can catch 'em all is to trade between the two versions. Sorry, but the GBA version won't trade with previous games in the Pokemon series.

The site also revealed the three "starter" Pokemon in the GBA version of the series: Torchic the Fire type, Treecko the Grass type, and Mudkip the Water type.

Watch this space for more details on what could end up being the biggest selling game on the GBA to date.
