Liberty City Stories Set for Japan

Yes, the first one.

When it comes to the Grand Theft Auto series in Japan, there are always three things that you can count on. First, Capcom is always the publisher. Second, the games always get slapped with a Z rating (that's the letter for Japan's most mature game rating). And third, Capcom uses the slowest form of sea-based shipping to bring the titles over.

The latest GTA game to be announced uncomfortably late for Japanese release is Liberty City Stories. Yes, the first PSP entry in the series. Two years after the game's US release, Capcom is at last bringing it to Japan. A release date is set for 7/26.

There really isn't anything else to say, considering the age of the original version. But don't be mistaken into thinking that the slow translation time will necessarily affect the game's sales. San Andreas suffered a similar gap for its Japanese release, but still ended up being one of the system's biggest games earlier this year. Liberty City Stories probably won't get the seven digit sales of a Monster Hunter game, but expect it to top the charts at its release.
