Modern Warfare 2 Breaks GameStop Pre-Order Record

GameStop sees record amount of pre-orders with Modern Warfare 2.

The launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is just a week away, but already GameStop knows it's a record-breaker. Speaking with USA Today, Tony Bartel, GameStop VP for merchandising and marketing, revealed that "as of today, the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network." Though Bartel stops short at disclosing numbers, he does opine that the launch of MW2 will be, "the biggest entertainment launch of all time." Wal-Mart's also preparing for high demand of the title, planning midnight sales events at 2,600 locations (via ShackNews).

Tyler says: As ShackNews points out, the first Modern Warfare sold over 13 million copies, World at War moved 11 million, and over at IndustryGamers, Micheal Pachter is quoted, predicting over 10 million boxes of MW2 will sell before the end of the year. That's a lot of answering to duty's call. And I'm sure like most of you, I will be one of those customers sending MW2 to the record books. Just out of curiosity, how many of you folks have pre-ordered the game already?
